Community Living BC

Mandate/Mission

Community Living B.C. helps people with developmental disabilities throughout their lives. CLBC recognizes your abilities and understands how you can contribute to your community. We help the community include and support people with developmental disabilities. And we fund services that you or your family choose.

Procedure:Individuals or families determine if they wish to make use of the services offered. The services are provided on the basis of prioritized need within available budgets and resources. Services generally supplement and support the efforts of individuals with a developmental disability and their families. Some services may require a financial contribution from individuals or families.

CLBC funds support and services that adults with developmental disabilities and their families can purchase directly through individualized funding, or acess through contracted services providers or agencies. These include:
  • Helping to find housing options encourage independence while meeting a person's unique needs
  • Family support, including respite and homemaker services
  • Connections with community services, including assessment and consultation, to support individuals, families or caregivers
  • The Provincial Assesment Centre (PAC), for people with mental illness and/or severe behavioural challenges, that provides diagnosis, assessments, support, and planning
  • Community inclusion supports to help adults with developmental disabilities find work, and build social and life skills
