North Cariboo Aboriginal Family Program Society
Mandate/Mission
The North Cariboo Aboriginal Family Program Society is a non- profit society and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors representative from each of the Aboriginal communities of the North Cariboo. The society works to promote the advancement and well-being of the children, youth and families of the North Cariboo’s Aboriginal communities and advocates for and provides programs, services and resources which contribute to community development and capacity building.

| Procedure: | Potential clients contact a family support worker for assistance, usually through their own community. However, clients may also be referred through other communities or agencies or may contact the Society directly. |
Services
- Family Support Workers: Each Aboriginal “community”:- Nazko Band, Klusklus Band, Red Bluff Band, Quesnel Tillicum Society, Carrier Chilcotin Tribal Council, North Cariboo Metis Society - employs a Family Support Worker who works with members of that community and others as required.
- Aboriginal Family Centre: Early Childhood Education parent programs, cultural programs
GOALS:- to take community responsibility for Aboriginal child welfare as an alternative to BC Ministry for Children and Families care
- to prevent child abuse and neglect as an alternative to child apprehension
- to develop an accord of standards and collective responsibility for the health and growth of all children and families within each community
- to provide family dispute resolution processes as an alternative to Family Court
