Mandate/Mission
the primary role of the Family Support Worker is to work with people of the Aboriginal community to promote the health and development of each child, youth and family.

Services
~provide services, support and training directed at children, youth and their families who may be at risk of personal and/or famly disruption due to issues such as health, justice, mental health and child protection concerns
~work in close cooperation with MCFD staff regarding any child who may be in need of protection, participating to the fullest extent in any child abuse/neglect investigation
~provide counseling, support services and referrals for individual children, youth and families
~identify and develop community resources that may be available to alleviate child protection concerns
~identify, regularly contact and provide liason and communication with and for Metis children in care
~promote the healthy development of children, youth and families by providing information, activities and support.
